Two young children died on Thursday in a fire on Jl. Kepu in Pegangsan Dua district in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
Nasya Naya, 3, and her brother, Ahmad Rizal, 6, were found dead inside a room in their house after the fire was extinguished.
They were the children of Imam Syahruddin, 39, and Dede Maryana, 31. Imam was admitted to a hospital with severe burns.
The fire injured six others living in rooms rented by Imam next to his house. The fire destroyed several houses and vehicles parked in the neighborhood.
Kelapa Gading Police chief detective Adj. Comr. Juhari said the fire was started by a cigarette butt that was thrown at a gasoline bottle at a gasoline stall run by Imam in front of his house, Antara news agency reported.
